Tardive Dyskinesia Workshop

Interactive Tardrive Dyskinesia Workshop in Springfield

Springfield, IL

This interactive training is designed to teach skills for monitoring the development and progression of tardive dyskinesia. Tardive dyskinesia consists of specific involuntary movements in different parts of the body. It is a potentially persistent side effect for people who have taken or are currently taking antipsychotic (neuroleptic) medication.

Training skills include learning the DISCUS rating scale, the medical standard for monitoring and/or measuring the presence and severity of tardive dyskinesia. A series of video clips will be utilized as part of the training to allow participants to practice using the DISCUS and demonstrate skills in DISCUS rating. The skills obtained via this training are not designed to replace diagnostic assessment, rather to empower participants with the necessary skills to screen for the presence of tardive dyskinesia.
